‘Future of wild life in our hand’ with this motto, an action orientated awareness program on wild life conservation was arranged on 3rd March at Manas National Park in collaboration with our local partner Manas Ever Welfare Society (MEWS) and Manas Park authority. Program was held at Bansbari Range entry point of Manas NP and was inaugurated by Babul Brahma Range in charge Bansbari. Objective of program was delivered by Mr. Deba Kr. Dutta WWF-India. Among the people who attended the program were Mr. U. Nath instructor and range officer of Forest Training School, Jalukbari, Mr Kalyan Baruah General Manger Fatemabad Tea Estate Bansbari, Mr. Sikram Barman President MEWS, Mr.Ajgor Ali Head Teacher Manas ME School, Mr. Haramohan Barman senior journalist Barpeta , 40 trainee forester from Forest Training School Jalukbari , 21 local students and 10 other villagers.
After the program, WWF-India and MEWS members led a wild life tracking as well as removal of plastics, solid sewage from the 22 km stretches Bansbari to Mathanguri (India and Bhutan International Border). In that activity, 21 students actively participated along with teachers and forest staffs. Participants spotted more than 70 elephants, 38 wild buffalo, 20 hog deer, a herds of caped langur and more than 120 birds species including elusive Bengal florican. Entire team members collectively gathered 25kg plastic bags, 10 kg used wine bottles and 5 kg canes and drinking water bottles. All garbage was disposed at safe place of Mathanguri with proper guidance.
