Manas Return of Giants: Wonderful Documentary on Manas National Park

Many people that I have met always have inquired about any online visual document on Manas. They have come to the park and fall in love with it and wants to take more than pictures and memories with them. In such cases, films or documentaries come handy to suggest to such persons. Though there are not many documentaries on Manas, a particular one can be mentioned here. People who love to read my blog and have a look.

Manas Return of Giants is one wonderful documentary on Manas National Park directed by  Praveen Singh and Martin Dohrn and produced by Kosmik Global Media Private Limited. The 50 minutes documentary gave extraordinary conservation recognition to Manas on global perceptive by  Discovery. The documentary was shot with night vision and infrared cameras and a wonderful sight to behold. It was first telecasted on Discovery channel last year and you can watch it on their website too.

Director Praveen Singh is one of my good friends. I first met him at Jeypore Rain Forest, Tinsukia Assam where I went to train SMART system to the Patrol team of  Jeypore Reserve Forest Staff.

During our short interactions, we discussed Manas and its importance. We shared our dreams and plans to conserve the nature with our efforts in individual fields.  I personally welcomed Praveen to Manas because Manas need global platform through a good wildlife film. Praveen and his wife Akansha also agreed to my opinion.

Couples of the week later they visited Manas for reconnaissance survey and I met them once at Bansbari range of Manas. They had started their project work after acquiring of government permission.

After years of hard work, Praveen created the masterpiece Manas: Return of Giants. The documentary has received lots of national and international recognition and is regarded as the finest visual work on Manas till now.

I have enjoyed the premier show of documentary at Tezpur University, Assam along with Praveen. When it premiered on Discovery, local media went euphoric and it created a buzz that not only helped the channel but created mass awareness of Manas National Park.

Manas is now the priority tiger conservation landscape for local, regional, and international perspective. So much conservation efforts put forward to the well-being of this fragile habitat. In the global movement to protect tiger, Discovery has directly built a partnership with WWF to protect a million acres of tiger landscape encompassing India and Bhutan. I hope this partnership will contribute fiercely on tiger conservation as well as conservation of Manas.
