'Birding' is a hobby to enjoy the challenge. A good birder must have patience and willingness to stand quietly and see what comes. Watching birds may be the cultivation of patience. This passion is resemblance our everyday lives obscure a truth about existence-that at the heart of everything there lies stillness and light (Lynn Thmoson).
A birder is always thrilled, because he is able to stand in the forest for long, looking up into the sky, reveals the marveling of beautiful avian creatures and surrounding nature. This is a kind of euphoria where birders can relate many things of his life.
Perhaps very limited people in the present world have opportunities to enjoy this euphoria with a passion. Mr. Rustom Basumatary is a budding naturalist and passionate birder from the remote village of Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam. He is born and brought up in a beautiful village area within the earshot to Manas Landscape.
He has flourished his passion since his childhood. The breathtaking beauty of Bhutan hills, wide-open country field, sunrise, morning dew, raindrops that glister in the grasslands, seasonal changes are the inspiration to grow up Mr. Basumatry's passion.
He is an executive member of the Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society(MMES).
MMES is one of the pioneering community-based organizations for the promotion of community-based tourism and wildlife protection of Manas NP.
Rustom has been thriving his hobby and passion more technically after joining in the MMES. He learned about different birds from many renowned people. Dr. Bibhuti Lahkar, Aaranyak was helping him to prosper his career. Presently, he can identify more than 700 birds across North East India.
