Amur falcons arrives in Monipur

The Amur falcons (Falcon amurensis), a popular migratory bird that spends its summers at its breeding grounds in southeast Russia and northeast China, have started to arrive in Manipur's Tamenglong district. Tamenglong borders with Assam’s North Cachar Hills district and Nagaland’s Peren district.

Forest officials said that awareness campaigns will be launched in the districts of Tamenglong, Senapati, Churachandpur, Ukhrul, and Kamjong. It shall be made known that trapping the birds is punishable under Section 50/51 of the Manipur Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
