| Monitoring Rhino with UHF radio collar at Manas NP |
We have experimenting rhino monitoring activity at Manas National Park with UHF-Ultra High Frequency radio collar. We used only one UHF radio collar to track its movement. In this photograph author has been trying to download all tacking information through wireless connectivity via a modem to downloading machine (is an small computer called as Concel) . As per experience I have found this process is very tedious. Either observer have to go elephant back or very close distance (~300m) with proper observation on rhino behavior. Sometime modem is not connecting from a very close distance when rhino inside a dense vegetation . If download machine able to capture all information from the collar it gives us ultimate information on rhino movement and habitat preferences.
