White-Bellied Heron in Manas National Park

The white-bellied heron (Ardea insignis), also known as the imperial heron or great white-bellied heron, is a species of large heron known from the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in India and Bhutan to northeastern Bangladesh and BurmaIt is mostly dark grey with a white throat and underparts

Recently, critically endangered birds have been located in Manas National Park after several decades. is mostly solitary and occurs in undisturbed riversides or wetlands. Birder and common conservationists feel happy to see the bird's presence in Manas again. This also indicated revival of Manas National Park.

It has been listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List since 2007 because the global population is estimated at less than 300 mature individuals and threatened by habitat loss and human disturbance.
