Everything I do, I do it for you......!

As a professional wildlife biologist, I need to spend most of my time inside the forest, away from my better half. I get to live in beautiful places where romantic couple wishes to spend their moments. Due to professional responsibilities,  it is not possible to bring my family with me and it hurt sometimes to be so alone in such beautiful places. I am a very family person but my passion for saving our wild has compelled me to remain away from you for longer periods. But my love, do not despair at all. Your support has given me strength to keep my passion alive. I carry you every minute in my heart. I carry our baby every second in my heart. You two are my inspiration and fuel to keep me going. Although I am far away, every time I think of you I catch my breath.  I wish " blow 'O' wind to where my loved one is....touch her and come touch me soon. I will feel her beauty in the moon ".  We both have sacrificed our togetherness for a greater cause and ...

My support to Manas is forever by Roopak Goswami

A Royal Bengal Tiger  at Manas National Park I have not been a direct actor in Manas but have seen it from my own eyes. A beautiful national park nestled in enchanting surroundings.. a bungalow right in front of a river going to another country will mesemerise anybody. just wondering why has not a Bollywood film been shot here.  I am a journalist who covers wildlife and tea which is a wonderful concoction which helps me to connect to all kinds of people. Yes, the park passed through difficult times and it continues to do so. Every time I have to write a story on a rhino getting poached in Manas, I get agonized. Yes, the staff are working to their best in difficult circumstances and the management is giving all what they can do. And every time I hear of a new species being sighted in Manas like the Chital recently, I think the park is back on the right track. But I know there is a danger lurking somewhere which makes me nervous of another casua...

Palash ( Butea monosperma ) Spring season is finally here at Manas  . I love this season as it give me extra ordinary pleasure and a vivid feel deep inside my heart . The blossom of  flower, buzzing bees, butterflies, budding leaves, singing of brids and newly sprouted grasses  are some enchanting  spring events at Manas . I enjoyed the colours  and  frgannace of spring.   Bombax cieba (Simalo/cotton tree) and Butea monosperma ( Palash )  flowers sprinkle  reddish glaze in the sky.  I usualy prefer to  walk early in the morning at  Pulsiguri and Kahibari area to listen birds songs and the beauty of morning sky. This act seems to be  filled up my inner side of heart.  A wild orchid This is the season  when I need to spend lots of time at the upstairs of Kuribeel and Rupahi camps. Nuptial flight of  Bengal Florican is a common sight there which is an awasome act by  male florican ...

Manas, through my lens by Pallabi Chakraborty

A mother rhino with her new born calf at Manas NP Manas… a name I relate to with passion. I had fallen in love with the Manas as soon as I had seen photos of my friends who had visited the Park when we were in college. My love for Manas was concreted as soon as I put my step in it. Working for WWF-India in my dream place was no less than a fairytale. The first day of work (for collecting data on indirect evidence of tigers and other animals) is still etched in my mind as if it were only yesterday. I saw a fresh pugmark of a male tiger on the sand for the first time and imagined the tiger walking majestically down the river bed minutes before our arrival! That was 6 years ago; however, nothing much has changed. I still get excited to work in Manas and see a pugmark or camera trap photo of a tiger. Kilometres of walks inside the forest were tiring, yet, were a source of immense joy and content. My friends (Binita, Sharavana, David) and I would compete to walk through the ta...
