There are four solar
street lights installed at southern boundary of Manas National Park in the last
week of December, 2013 under IRV2020 program.
Four selected locations were Roharpam, Barengabari, Katajhar Bathan and
Daoraibari. With this innovative support, park
authority is expecting to improve security scenario in entire stretches from
the Gyati gaon to Katajhar at night. This
is also helping to promote green energy as well as to reduce crop damage by
wild animals in adjoining areas of park. However, six solar lights have
already been installed at Southern
Boundary of Manas NP under the project- Enhancing the
livelihood of fringe community in Manas National Park using technical
interventions and fostering conservation linkages” supported by “Seed Division department of science &
technology New Delhi. Project is implemented by Manas Ever Welfare
Society (MEWS) in collaboration with WWF-India and Manas National Park
Authority.
