On 13th November, poachers had attempted to kill rhino at Charfuli area under Bansbari range of Manas National Park . Poachers indiscriminately fired 4 round bullet to rhino and her calf. Fortunately, rhino with her calf was saved due thick vegetation . But unfortunately one bullet hit rhino-13 in neck fold and another at right ear. Yesterday, rhino-13 was tranquilized and gave required medicines but Vet team was unable to remove bullet from the neck fold. Dr. K.K.Sarma, Dr. Prabhat Basumatary, Dr. Bhaskar Choudhury carried out the entire operation with support of field staff and our two field assistant Bipul and Sande. We hope early recovery of Rhino-13 and safety in future !
