I still remember that most sorrowful evening at Manas NP. On 13th January,2013 I completed five years at Manas NP. On occasion of five years anniversary I arranged one feast for our entire team in relation with our traditional cultural day
Magh Bihu. We were eight team members jointly arranged everything for the program. My dear colleagues, were full of joy. We planned to celebrate with some of other forest staffs in a interior camp of Manas NP. We loaded all items and started our sojourn around 4-30pm evening. We just covered 50m from our camp then suddenly my phone rang . One of villager informed that they got information rhino poaching 7-8km away from the range head quarter. We stopped our vehicle and turned back to our camp. I informed to Range Officer and immediately rushed to that location. There was no patrolling roads at that location. So we started walking along with Range Officer and other forest staff. We walked more than 10 km to reached that location. We spotted and identified that was Iragdao (R2). Handsome bull's carcass was lay on the grassland.
With heavy sorrow heart we returned to our camp. We reached our camp at midnight. Whole team would not eat nothing . The five year anniversary was spent like storm over our head.
